Thebq2400xseriesICsareadvancedLi-Ionlinearchargemanagementdevicesforhighlyintegratedandspace-limitedapplications.Theycombinehigh-accu-racycurrentandvoltageregulation;FETpass-tran-sistorandreverse-blockingSchottky;batterycon-ditioning,temperature,orinput-powermonitoring;chargetermination;charge-statusindication;andchargetimerinasmallpackage.

Thebq2400xmeasuresbatterytemperatureusinganexternalthermistor.Forsafety,thebq2400xinhibitschargeuntilthebatterytemperatureiswithintheuser-definedthresholds.Alternatively,theusercanmonitortheinputvoltagetoqualifycharge.Thebq2400xseriesthenchargethebatteryinthreephases:preconditioning,constantcurrent,andcon-stantvoltage.Ifthebatteryvoltageisbelowtheinternallow-voltagethreshold,thebq2400xuseslow-currentprechargetoconditionthebattery.Apreconditioningtimerprovidesadditionalsafety.Fol-lowingpre-conditioning,thebq2400xappliesacon-stant-chargecurrenttothebattery.Anexternalsense-resistorsetsthemagnitudeofthecurrent.Theconstant-currentphaseismaintaineduntilthebatteryreachesthecharge-regulationvoltage.Thebq2400xthentransitionstotheconstantvoltagephase.Theusercanconfigurethedeviceforcellswitheithercokeorgraphiteanodes.Theaccuracyofthevoltageregulationisbetterthan±1%overtheoperatingjunctiontemperatureandsupplyvoltagerange.Chargeisterminatedbymaximumtimeorminimumtapercurrentdetection

Thebq2400xautomaticallyrestartsthechargeifthebatteryvoltagefallsbelowaninternalrechargethreshold.
