Abstract：The paper studies the theoretical basis of the translation of culture by exploring the relation between culture，language and translation．

Translation is a kind of cross—linguistic and cross—cultural communicative activity．W hile translating，it is necessary to undentand thoroughly not only the two langu ages，but also the two cultures and the cultural diferences betw een them．This includes an analysis of the surface and deep structures of culture

and language，and the examination of the internal contact between culture and translation as well as the objective laws pertaining to their interaction

I Introduction

Translation implies the rendering of from one language into another of some written or spoken(1). The process of translation is not only the transform of language, but also the transform of culture. Lacking of mastering the language or understanding the culture, the misunderstanging and mistransaltion would arise.therefore, the transaltion should be discussed in the broad context of research on culture. This includes an analysis of the surface and deep structures of language and culture, and the examination of the internal contact between culture and translation as well as the objective laws pertaining to their interaction translation. This essay attempts a brief study of translation from the angle of historical cultural differences, regional cultural differences, customary cultural differences, and religious cultural differences. Culture is the whole complex of traditional behavior, which has been developed by the human race and is successively learned by each generation. A culture is less precise, it can mean the forms of traditional behavior, which are characteristic of a society, or a group of societies, or of a certain area, or of a certain period of time(2).
